Loch Mullardoch in Autumn

Happy New Year Everyone!

To mark the beginning of 2014, my challenge is to showcase my landscape photography. Every day of January I will upload a sample photograph from my favourite past  photo shoots for you to enjoy.

Situated in Glen Cannich, Loch Mullardoch is the largest dam in Scotland, and was constructed in 1951 and stretches for 10 miles originating upstream at the River Cannich.

The 8 mile drive, on the  single track road, from the village of Cannich also allowed the opportunity to see herds of Red Deer, and watch Buzzards and Red Kites circling above.

This photograph of Loch Mullardoch was taken on 1st November 2012, one of those wonderful, bright Autumn days that we are fortunate enough to have in the Highlands.

As I arrived in the late afternoon, the light was beginning to fade slightly although it made the surrounding snow dusted Munros stand in shadow, against the vivid blue.
