Loch Glascarnoch

Situated on the A835 between Inverness and Ullapool, Loch Glascarnoch was created in the 1950’s when the Glascarnoch Dam was built, with water from Loch Vaich and Loch Droma taken into the loch.

Meall a’Torcain, is in the immediate vicinity of Loch Glascarnoch, and provides a start for a good bit of hillwalking taking in several peaks.

The Fannichs are a long chain of peaks above Loch Fannich and can be approached from the north starting at Loch Glascarnoch and terminating at Loch a’Bhraoin. Although it is with difficulty the main ridge is approached once on it the walking becomes easier along the grassy ridge.
